SUDAR PERCCUSSION ENSEMBLE, Croatia

According to Irena Paulus the “wildest group of musicians in this region”, has made an enviable number of performances, tours and projects in Croatia and abroad since 2010. Their distinguishing characteristic is in different views of the famous works of classical and popular music, but also in the qualities of ensemble members who, in addition to incredible technical skills and musicality always bring innovativity and large dose of humorous. Their first album Eat Suite, made at the legendary Abbey Road studio in London, was created thanks to this winning combination. The professionals were full of praise. Hrvoje Horvat described it as “… rock with huge balls …”, and Ney Rosauro believed that “the album has the potential to become a big percussionist hit”. The crown to all the praises came in the form of two prestigious prizes at the Independent Music Awards in the USA. With this album Sudar Perccussion made a great step forward in promoting percussion music in Croatia.
Through the years the ensemble had many remarkable concerts and appearances at eminent festivals in Croatia and abroad, to name only a few: Dubrovnik Summer Festival (in 2013 and 2014), Split Summer, Ohrid Summer, St. Donat Festival in Zadar, BUMfest in Slovenia, Damfest in Pristina, Brod’s Summer, Zagreb Cultural Summer at the lake Bundek, Umago-o-classico, Rijeka Nights, concerts in Sinj and at St. Mihovil’s Fortress, as well as in Podgorica and many other performances all over Croatia.
After their first album they recorded a “weird” video clip for a popular Rondo Alla Turca (final stance of the Mozart’s Piano Sonata in A-major, K. 331) Samobor, Salzburg and Istanbul and they also established a successful co-operation with Zagreb Soloists, Matej Meštrović, and the world known violinist Stefan Milenković at the concert of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons titled Vivaldis.
The ensemble performs regularly with the greatest names of the world percussion scene such as Ink Experiment Duo (Ivana Bilić and Nikola Krbanjević), Emanuel Sejourne, Pius Cheng, Dane Richeson, Ney Rosauro, Svet Stoyanov, Slovenian Percussion Duo, Nancy Zeltsman, Paolo Cimmino, Tatjana Koleva, Maraca 2, Ivana Bilić and Tchiki Duo. In September 2016, Sudar Percussion has taken another step forward in its creativity by recording a music video for the song Oxygene IV of the French composer Jean Michel Jarre. Music video premiered symbolically on September 16th, 2016, on the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was also and excellent announcement of a new album, which presented, in highly energetic style that was another characteristic of this ensemble, the most popular works of the pioneer of electronic music and restore the enthusiasm that Jean Michel Jarre caused four decades ago. The producer was again Branimir Mihaljević, just as in the case of the first issue. The first recording of a piece Oxygene IV has received incredibly positive reviews not only from the audience but also from the author himself and the record label Francis Dreyfus Music and BMG France, with whom their international collaboration continues. By the beginning of this year they made a video recording of a song Revolution together with Stefan Milenković and signer Božo Vrećo that announced a long waited concert, a multimedia spectacle in a great Vatroslav Lisinski concert hall that was held on February 11th setting the ensemble’s work onto a higher level.
